Dear Brothers and Sisters

Another month has come and gone. What an amazing blessing it has been! I want to share with you all a little bit about the classes I have taken this term and what I have learned. Finals will come at the end of the month, and we are excited to be able to test the knowledge that we have gained, and looking forward to late nights and long hours of study.

Minor Prophets is taught by Charles Speer who was a missionary in New Zealand. We have spent the past two months going verse by verse through all of the twelve Minor Prophets. We have learned historical context, as well as modern application for these books. It has been incredible to learn about the lives of these men, what God told them to say and most importantly God’s heart for His people.

Ed Wharton, who has been teaching at Sunset from its beginning is teaching Ephesians and Colossians this term. His classes are hard, and to the point, but the information that he brings to the table, and his able to teach and explain what is in the writings of Paul in a clear and organized fashion is incredible. It is amazing to sit at the feet of this man, and soak up the Word of the Lord. Some of my class mates : Kristy, Krissy and Jessica

Old Testament History is a two-part class that will be finished by December. Victor Ellison is teaching both this term and the next. As in the Minor Prophets, we are taking the history of the Old Testament, verse by verse, and examining it in contact both of the Word and of secular history.

One of the preachers in the area where I grew up is now a teaching at Sunset and has been teaching Spiritual Disciplines this term. This has to be one of the most applicable classes in the curriculum. Not only is he teaching us how to teach others about living a spiritually disciplined life, but the goal of the class is to apply it in our own lives. As ministers, we have to be able to nurture ourselves so that we can nurture others.

Gracious Hospitality, for the woman, and taught by Dawna Gilbert is another one of those application classes. As woman in the ministry, we need to know how to keep a home and to be hospitable people who are able to open up our homes and welcome people into our lives in a way that will show them who Jesus is. So, each Friday for 4 hours learning about the qualities show by Jesus as He Himself was hospitable, as well as taking the time to learn ways, such as cooking, to be welcoming.

The past few months have been simply incredible. The more I learn, the more I want to be back on the field teaching people. I use what time I have to try and minister to those around praying that one day soon I will be able to go back into working with people full time, helping to teach them more about Jesus and how to live for Him.

Thank you all so very much for the support that you have provide for me to be here, learning these things, so that I will be able to pass them along to others. Please continue to pray for me in this process, as I continue to pray for you all.

God bless – Pamela D.
