November 2007

Dear Supporters, Family and Friends –

How great and glorious is the God we serve! Over the past few months I have been learning some of the most amazing things about Him, His power, and His foresight into history that has made life seem to come alive. He is not only the reason for why we live, He is the essence of that life.

The month of November has been a wonderful month full of learning, and growing, stretching and sharing. To begin, we started a new term. I am in a continued study of the Old Testament with Victor Ellison, Greek with Ron Bontrager, and Christian Home with Charles Speer. Each class brings it’s own unique points, and views into my life and learning, and each day is full of new ideas, and concepts that I have never thought of before.

Old Testament is a continuation of the study we were doing last term. This term we are finishing the Joshua through the end of Old Testament history. We move through things rather quickly, because there are over 3,500 years to cover, but the ties that Brother Ellison is able to make between start and finish are not only fascinating, but relative. Next term we will be starting Scheme of Redemption, which talks about the Seed Promise made to Adam and Eve and was fulfilled in Christ. The History of the Bible is the fulfillment of that promise, and thus, the study of it is so important.

“It’s all Greek to me!” Well, it actually is. We have begun and introductory course on the study of the Greek languages, and Brother Bontrageter puts it, “it’s just enough to make us dangerous.” Our goal in studying the basics of the Greek languages is to get us to the point that we can take any word in our Greek New Testament and be able to understand, research and represent it’s true meaning in our teachings. Thus far it has been a challenging, and rewarding study. To be able to read a sentence out of the original Greek is one of the most amazing feelings.

Brother Speer is taking us through the study of the Christian Home. First he started by talking about single people, now it is marriage, and next will be children. How these relationships effect our lives, ministries and eternity is based upon how we mold them, grow them, and nurture them. He has taken us through the book, “His Needs, Her Needs”, which has been very insightful when it comes to marriage. Most adults are married, so more than likely I will get to work with married when in my ministry. I know that the things that I have learned from this class will help me to help them in their marriages.

Next Term will begin this coming January and with that is coming some more responsibility for me. I have talked to the AIM staff about joining their ranks as an official assistant, and have been excepted. This means that I will be assigned to a team of assistance, a team of AIMers and an area church. I will be able to work with the AIMers, encouraging them as they are building their teams and get ready to go to their field(s) this coming year. I am looking forward to being able to apply some of the things I am learning in school, by helping to mold these young apprentice missionaries before they are sent out.

It seems almost too early to start thinking about summer plans, but the months will melt away before one knows it, and so I would like to tell you about my tentative plans for this coming summer. As you all know I worked the past three years in Strasbourg, France. This summer, Lord willing, I would like to return to Strasbourg and work with the church, both encouraging members, and meeting with the contacts I had when I lived there, and who I am currently communicating with through the internet. The relationships I have built with the people are very close to my heart, and I want to be able to encourage the church, as well as help them in all the way that I can. Normally there is a campaign at the beginning of the summer, that Lord willing I will be able to participate in.
Another part of the summer might include taking a trip to Estonia, which is a few hundred miles northeast of France to work for two weeks in a summer camp that is put on by the church there. One of my classmates was a missionary there and has invited me to come and help with that camp. Children have always been a passion of mine and Lord willing that will come to fruition.

I do not know how I can thank you all for what you are doing for me and for my ministry. You have changed my life by what you do, and are making it possible for me to prepare myself to be fully equip to return full-time to the field, and to kingdom work! Thank you so very much for your prayers and your love! God bless you all!

I have a little in saving to help cover the cost of this trip. As of right now, I will be able to pay for the plane ticket. Thus, I am in need of the rest of the funding for the trip. I know that God will provide the money that is needed, so that I will be able to go to France and help with the work that is being done there. There are so many things that need to be done, and people who need to be taught and loved.

If you know anyone who would be willing to help with some of the one time expenses of this campaign, please pass along their contact information, and I will send them some literature about France, and my involvment there. Thank you!
