March 2008

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ -

It always amazes me when another month concludes. The time goes by so very fast! This month has been a little different than normal months. Between our third and fourth term we were given two weeks off from school. This does not however mean that we had two weeks off. So, after finals were completed and assignments turned in, we began what is referred to as "March Madness".

Starting on Wednesday the 12th, the AIMers that would be graduating (class of 2005) arrived in Lubbock for their debriefing and reunion. The AIM staff was able to spend time fellowshipping with these returning AIMers and helping them to process some of the things they are experiencing now that they are on this side of the mission field. Having been back from France only a short time, I was able to relate very closely with them, I felt, and I was able to learn a lot from their experiences as well. In listening to all their stories, I know that God has been glorified in their lives and, because of their lives, God will continue to be glorified. Their stories also reminded me of why I work with the AIM students: so that people around the world will hear the gospel of God!
On Saturday, the class of 2005 walked across the stage and received their diplomas, a paper signifying the last three years of their lives.

The following week was filled with excitement as 90 campers from across the US joined us for our week-long camp adventure. The week was full of study of God's word, moments to encourage, evangelism and lots of fellowship. The campers, as well as the the AIM students and some of the staff participated in service projects around town, cultural breakfast, dinners and sharing of what God has done in everyone lives. During the week many of the campers decided to begin their journey in missions this coming August and three people gave their lives to our Lord in baptism.

After all the excitement of Camp Adventure ended, the AIMers left to go to Arlington, Texas to work with the church there for a few days. Sunset students, myself included, then began our own campaign in Lubbock called the Heart to Heart campaign. Starting on Monday and going through Saturday we were able to knock on hundreds of doors and set up dozens of Bible studies with the people in our own community. I was excited to be able to meet and talk with people in this community about God and studying His word.

This week we started our last term of the year. I am looking forward to telling you all about these new classes in my next newsletter.
I pray that God is blessing you all with grace and peace and that He is bringing into your lives those people who need to hear about Him!

God bless you all - Pamela D.

My Health

I just wanted to update you on my health. I have been seeing a doctor the past few months to find out what was wrong with my stomach, since I was having a lot of pain. As of a few weeks ago, I have been unofficially diagnosed with Crohn's disease. I am taking some medications and praying that they will help put the illness into remission. Please keep me in your prayers in that regard as well as for my studies and my ministry here in Lubbock.

Summer Mission to France Update

I am still planning on being in Europe this summer to help with the church's campaign and be with members and contacts from my life there. One congregation has pledged the rest of the money I need for the trip so financially, all is taken care of. Thank you so much for your love and concern for that work!
