January 2007

Dear Supports, Family and Friends -

How excited I am to bring you news about what all has been happening here in Strasbourg. This month has been a rush of activities, people and construction!

To start off the month, we saw Danielle, our team mate for the past year and a half, move back to America. It was terribly sad seeing her go, and the house has been quiet since she has been gone. My other team mate, Jessica, arrived back from the states to finish up her time here, and will be leaving us at the beginning of March. We did however received the news of the next team of students that will be joining us from the AIM program. It is reassuring to know that the work that we are doing here will be passed along to others when we go.

The Lord also blessed us with another team mate, Francis. He is a native of Guadeloupe, but was born in France and has spent the majority of his life here. He desires to be a preacher, and so Daniel has taken him under his wing as an apprentice, to teach him the ways of ministry, as well as spend time with him in Bible study. Part of a ministers job, like most jobs, involves paper work and computer skills. I have had the opportunity to share my knowledge of the computer with Francis once a week, as well as work with him on different projects that he has in mind. We are working currently on putting together a Christian Newsletter in French that will be published every two months. Because of Francis qualities and his french speaking abilities, he has become a great asset to our team.

Last month I told you about a German girl who had mentioned that she was interested in religion. This past month Jessica and I were able to go out to dinner with her and share with her our faith, and hopefully encourage her in her search for God. She talked about how she has always see the world differently from the kids around her. When her friends would go and sleep around with their boyfriends and girlfriends, she wouldn't. We had the opportunity to shared with her that we think the same way. When she lived at home, she attended church with her family, an older congregation with no young people. Now, even though she does not attended a church, she still has the desire in her heart. She visited one week with us, but her work is keeping her away. Please continue to pray for her. This month my goal is to see if she would like to have a weekly study on the Bible, to answer questions that she has.

Construction, construction, construction. The Lord has greatly blessed Daniel and Tammy, the missionaries here, by allowing them to buy a home. Up until now they have been renting a house. Tammy's mother is coming to live with them in July, and now they will have adequate space. We have been working to turn the three bedroom, one bathroom house into a four bedroom, two bathroom home. The sooner we can get them moved in and settled, the sooner we can be back to our "normal work".

However, the work on the house has provided amazing opportunities to spend time with church members. Alex and Mavis (from Ghana) have been helping us every day. He is a professional construction worker and has the skills we need to put up walls, paint, and so on. She has been coming along to help in anyways she can. We are praying that working in a Christian environment will be a great encouragement to them, being that they are not used to that type of work environment.

It has also been an opportunity to reach out to others. The plumber and the tile man have both shown interest in knowing more about Jesus. The tile man has said that he desires to come to church. It is amazing how God uses situations to reach out to people. Lord willing, the way we work, and life, will show these men who Christ truly is.
Our goal is to have the entire house finished and Daniel and Tammy moved in by the end of the month.

I look at all the work that we are getting done, and the people we are reaching out to and I am so thankful for all of you, who are the ones who make it financially possible, but also are our partners, pleading with the Lord for the success in sharing His gospel in this place. Please continue to pray for us all here, that hearts will be opened to the message of His love.

Thank you all so very much for all that you do. God bless, Pamela D.
